What is your story?
Is your story filled with haunted experiences from the past? Are you uncertain and confused about what to do for your future? Do you feel overwhelmed with life, relationships, love, work, or finances? Were you pregnant as a teen or have a pregnant teen in your home or family?
Welcome to my world. I am Michelle Scarlett and I have traveled your journey many times. I have been through sadness, guilt, and tears. I was molested, abused, abandoned, and told many times that I am "good for nothing." I was also a teen mom.
If you can relate to any of the above, then listen to me with all the focus you can get. Your past journeys do not determine your future destinations! I'll say that again. Your past journeys do not determine your future destinations! Find all the lessons available from those experiences and chart your route to success! That was what I did. I was able to move from a high school dropout as a pregnant teen with a self-esteem of zero, to a confident, purpose-driven woman, living most of my dreams. And I'm not done yet.
To help others, I decided to put those experiences into three books. Read them and see how you too can be transformed into the success you were meant to be. And if you were a teen mom? You will see that there is hope, opportunities, and an amazing reason to succeed.
In Search of Self was inspired by my two sons, Iverson and Peter. It includes little stories and poems about the events of our lives: the struggles we faced, the victories we won, and our path to becoming self-sufficient. It also includes thoughts and words I live by daily throughout my never-ending evolution. I hope this book will touch the lives and hearts of those who seek to become better human beings.
I wrote this book to inspire young single mothers, to encourage someone who may be lost, to guide someone who is searching for a way out, and to tell someone that self-love is where love truly begins. This book is as much about you as it is about me. Life sometimes sucks, but the ball is always in your court, even if it's a curveball. Dust yourself off and try again. Things will fall into place as long as you stay focused, keep positive, and keep moving forward.
I am so excited about Against All Odds. In it, I spoke candidly about my struggles in migrating to America, with all the self-hate and internal baggage from Jamaica. You'll walk with me through my journey of challenges, discoveries, lessons, abuse, racism, failures, successes, transformation, and accomplishments.
You'll see that It doesn't matter who you are, what your past looked like, or your current status. What is important is where you end up. I am living proof of this, and you will see that it's possible for you too, after reading these pages.
Poems from the Heart is a compilation of thoughts as I go through my many life experiences, as well as how I feel about what is happening around us.
Small enough to fit into your bag, you will walk through five sections of poetry that touches your emotions, open your eyes, and put you into the depths of your own thoughts.
Poetry has allowed me to heal myself as I poured my thoughts on paper. You will find three pages specifically designed for you to do the same.

Mom, entrepreneur, author, and motivational speaker.
She is a true flavor of Jamaica; hot and spicey while being delectably sweet. Michelle has a big heart that is filled with so many selfless ambitions. A strong believer in “service to humanity,” her passion is to help kids and teen moms find their way in an unforgiving society when mistakes are made. It is this compassion that drives her commitment to give back and help them succeed. Consequently, she has dedicated her life to helping The Women’s Centre of Jamaica in Montego Bay, which played a crucial role during her times of need as a teenage mother.
